AI Feud: Musk vs Zuckerberg
Without any doubt, AI will play an important role in the future of mankind. However, if AI advancements will benefit or ultimately destroy humanity remains a debatable topic amongst everyone who is at least a bit familiar with the industry. And nothing grabs more attention when two of the world’s leading techie’s feud over the future of human civilization and AI.
Elon Musk asks to regulate AI
Earlier this month, at a meeting of American governors, Musk warned that AI was the biggest risk we face as a civilization. He strongly encouraged the government to regulate AI to combat ‘existential threat’ before it’s too late.
“AI is the rare case where I think we need to be proactive in regulation instead of reactive. Because I think by the time we are reactive in AI regulation, it’ll be too late,” Musk told the meeting. “AI is a fundamental risk to the existence of human civilization.”
Zuckerberg disparages the concerns of AI
On a live stream from his backyard barbecue, Zuckerberg addressed one of his viewers’ questions on the warnings issued by Musk as pretty irresponsible.
“I think people who are naysayers and try to drum up these doomsday scenarios — I don’t understand it,” Zuckerberg replied. “It’s really negative, and in some ways, I think it’s pretty irresponsible.”
Elon’s answer was pretty straightforward, bashing Mark’s understanding of artificial intelligence, with Musk tweeting earlier today:
“I’ve talked to Mark about this. His understanding of the subject is limited.”

What is next?
It is clear that both men feel strongly about the technology, but as of now, Musk seems to have the upper hand. What will be Mark’s comeback? We can just wait and see, however as one of our favorite AI YouTubers Siraj said: “Both Elon & Mark are correct, it’s not so binary”
